WASHINGTON — Government officials issued a terse statement today that they are unsure what a “bizarre” new symbol that is showing up “too often” on social media, buttons, graffiti and tattoos actually means. “It’s some kind of code we’re pretty sure,” said Admiral Michael S. Rogers, Director of Intelligence at the National Security Agency. “At this point, we only know that it seems to be some sort of human stick figure sitting on a stick.” “No further comment.” An unnamed source at the NSA said they are pursuing all angles but have no solid leads to date. “I asked a man at Starbucks this morning what the hell this damn thing means,” said the source. “He had the symbol stitched on his jean jacket but he didn’t give me an answer.” Peace“He just held up his fingers in a V. Now I’m even more confused. What does that even mean?”
The NSA is operating with the theory that the symbol may have some historical meaning and noted that it is not just an American phenomenon but has also been appearing globally and on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram and other social media platforms.
“I for one am confused,” said Admiral Rogers.
“I have no idea where it’s coming from or what it means.”
“We may have to ask for the public’s help on this one.”
